Acer platanoides
Norway maple

- Origen: native to Europe, from Norway to southwards, excluding the British Isles
- Interesting fact: this species is very rare in Galicia and is often mistaken for Acer pseudoplatanus

A tree measuring 18 to 20 metres in height.

The leaves are deciduous, opposite, simple and pentalobate, with serrated edges. It is well distinguished by having very pointy leaf lobes and because when the petiole is cut, it exudes a white milky substance.

The fruit is a two-seeded pod that is very open, at an angle of approximately 180º.
