Cappadocian maple

- Origen: tree native to the Caucasus, Turkey, the Himalaya and China
- Interesting fact: it is a species grown infrequently in Galicia

It is a fast-growing deciduous tree that can reach a height of 25 metres.

Simple, shiny opposite leaves, with 5-7 very pointed lobes, with no serration on the edges. There are groups of hairs on the underside, in the axils of the veins, and they turn golden yellow in autumn.

The flowers are pale yellow, arranged in vertical clusters.

The fruit is disamara with broad wings, measuring some 7 centimetres long, forming an angle of between 90º and 120º, rarely greater.
