It was inaugurated in 1971 to honour the memory of the poet Rosalía de Castro, for whom the park is named. It consists of a bust on a granite pedestal, 2.8 metres high. A modest work was chosen so that its presence in the park was educational and poetic, rather than being a spectacle.
