Construction was approved on 23 July 1927, and it was refurbished in 2007. It was one of the first rationalist works carried out in Spain, with reinforced concrete and elements in the Art Deco style. The corner of the terrace adjacent to the extension of Avenida de Ángel López Pérez (now Avenida do Doutor García Portela) was used, turning that area into a splendid vantage point protected from the sun, the admirable landscape offered by the river Minho.
