An evergreen tree with an ovoid crown and brown bark.

The branches are arranged circularly around the trunk, and the leaves are scaly, persistent, very small, light green in colour and with a slight scent of lemon.

The cones are globose and elongated, measuring between 2.5 and 3.5 centimetres and are formed by 8-10 pelted and mucronate scales.
