A tree measuring up to 70 metres tall with a pyramidal crown.

The leaves are acicular, flexible and large, 2 to 5 centimetres, arranged in abundant groups on brown mesoblasts.

The cones are large, 8 to 12 centimetres, ovoid and rounded at the apex. When they ripen, they disintegrate, dropping the scales and the seeds.
